Please check with your dermatologist/physician about medication interactions and/or contraindications (a contraindication is a condition or factor that serves as a reason to withhold a certain medical treatment due to the harm that it would cause the patient) prior to a service.

Facial sugaring is not advised for persons using the Obagi line or other skin thinning treatment lines. Facial sugaring while taking these medications can result in facial skin removal.

The following medications require you to be off of them at least a year prior to service:

Accutane

The following medications require you to be off of them a minimum of three months prior to service:

Adapalene (acne) Alustra (Retin A) Avage (acne) Avita (Retin A) Differin (acne) Isotretinoin (see Accutane) Renova (Retin A) Retin A (acne/anti-aging) Tazarac (acne) Tazarotene Tretinoin Steroids Blood Thinners. Other acne medications should be discussed with your Dermatologist prior to service.

Other contraindications for sugaring:

Sugaring is not advised for people suffering from cold sores/herpes as the sugaring process can exacerbate or cause an outbreak of the virus.

No facial sugaring if you’ve had a physician administered peel within the past two years.

You must wait seven days before before facial waxing or sugaring after a light chemical peel or microdermabrasion.

No sugaring if you have had laser skin resurfacing within the past year.

Increased sensitivity may occur if you are using:

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Glycolic, Lactic)- Oral Antibiotics – Topical Antibiotics – Retinol – Salicylic Acid – Benzoyl Peroxide – Exfoliants. Please alert us if any of these apply to you.

  6. Infection Risk: While we adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation protocols, there is always a minimal risk of infection associated with hair removal procedures. Clients should follow aftercare instructions provided by our staff to reduce this risk.

  7. Scarring and Hyperpigmentation: In rare cases, improper technique or individual skin response may lead to scarring or hyperpigmentation. Our technicians are trained to minimize such risks, but they cannot be entirely eliminated.

  8. No Medical Diagnosis: Sugar Me technicians are not medical professionals and cannot provide medical diagnoses or treatment recommendations for skin conditions or abnormalities. Clients with concerns about skin health should seek advice from a qualified healthcare provider.
